1) Quran:

And they who guard their private parts
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed
But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors  1

Words of Prophet Lot(AS):

Through words of Prophet Lot(AS), homosexuality is condemned as unnatural and transgression.

And [We had sent] Lot when he said to his people, “Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds?
Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people.” 2

Do you approach males among the worlds
And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing.” 3

And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, “Do you commit immorality while you are seeing?
Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly.” 4

And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, “Indeed, you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds.
Indeed, you approach men and obstruct the road and commit in your meetings [every] evil.” And the answer of his people was not but they said, “Bring us the punishment of Allah , if you should be of the truthful.” 5

Possible Punishment:

A verse can of Quran can be interpreted as a possible punishment for homosexuality but this interpretation is not accepted by majority of Scholars. The verse 16 of Chapter 4 says that a mild punishment should be given to two until they repent.

Those who commit unlawful sexual intercourse of your women – bring against them four [witnesses] from among you. And if they testify, confine the guilty women to houses until death takes them or Allah ordains for them [another] way.

And the two who commit it among you, dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allah is ever Accepting of repentance and Merciful. 6

2) Hadith:

In Following tradition of Bukhari(5105) Prohibition or Punishment is not mentioned. It is only talking about legality of marriage after committing illegal intercourse.

Ibn ‘Abbas further said, “Seven types of marriages are unlawful because of blood relations, and seven because of marriage relations.” Then Ibn ‘Abbas recited the Verse:
“Forbidden for you (for marriages) are your mothers…” (4:23). ‘Abdullah bin Ja’far married the daughter and wife of ‘Ali at the same time (they were step-daughter and mother). Ibn Sirin said, “There is no harm in that.” But Al-Hasan Al-Basri disapproved of it at first, but then said that there was no harm in it. Al-Hasan bin Al-Hasan bin ‘Ali married two of his cousins in one night. Ja’far bin Zaid disapproved of that because of it would bring hatred (between the two cousins), but it is not unlawful, as Allah said, “Lawful to you are all others [beyond those (mentioned)]. (4:24). Ibn ‘Abbas said: “If somebody commits illegal sexual intercourse with his wife’s sister, his wife does not become unlawful for him.” And narrated Abu Ja’far, “If a person commits homosexuality with a boy, then the mother of that boy is unlawful for him to marry.” Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas, “If one commits illegal sexual intercourse with his mother in law, then his married relation to his wife does not become unlawful.” Abu Nasr reported to have said that Ibn ‘Abbas in the above case, regarded his marital relation to his wife unlawful, but Abu Nasr is not known well for hearing Hadith from Ibn ‘Abbas. Imran bin Hussain, Jabir b. Zaid, Al-Hasan and some other Iraqi’s, are reported to have judged that his marital relations to his wife would be unlawful. In the above case Abu Hurairah said, “The marital relation to one’s wife does not become unlawful except if one as had sexual intercourse (with her mother).” Ibn Al-Musaiyab, ‘Urwa, and Az-Zuhri allows such person to keep his wife. ‘Ali said, “His marital relations to his wife does not become unlawful.” 7

‘Abd al-Rahman, the son of Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, reported from his father:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: A man should not see the private parts of another man, and a woman should not see the private parts of another woman, and a man should not lie with another man under one covering, and a woman should not lie with another woman under one covering. 8

Abu Hurairah narrated that :
the Prophet said: “Whoever engages in sexual intercourse with a menstruating woman, or a woman in her anus, consults a soothsayer, then he has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad.”

Grade : Hasan (Darussalam) 9

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah:
that the Prophet said: “Allah will not look at a man who has intercourse with his wife in her buttocks.”
Grade : Sahih (Darussalam) 10

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas:

That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whomever you find doing the actions of the people of Lut then kill the one doing it, and the one it is done to.”

(Missing Translation) Abu ‘Isa [al-Tirmidhi] said: It is through this line (wajh) that this hadith is known and Muhammad bin Ishaq reported this hadith from ‘Amr bin Abi ‘Amr, in which he said “he who does the act of the people of Lut is cursed” but did not mention killing and in that hadith it was also said that he who has sex with an animal is cursed. This hadith has also been reported from ‘Asim bin ‘Umar from Suhayl bin Abi Salih from his father from Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet who said, “Kill the one who performs the act and the one on whom it is performed”. Abu ‘Isa [al-Tirmidhi] said: the isnad of this hadith is a matter of contention; we do not know anyone who reported it from Suhayl bin Abi Salih except ‘Asim bin ‘Umar al-‘Umari and ‘Asim bin ‘Umar is considered weak in hadith before his hifz. And people of knowledge have differed regarding the penalty for one who does the homosexual act. Some of them said that he is to be stoned regardless of whether or not he is married. This is the view of Malik and Shafi‘i and Ahmad and Ishaq. And some people of knowledge among the fuqaha` of the Successors, including al-Hasan al-Basri and Ibrahim al-Nakh‘i and ‘Ata bin Abi Rabah said the hadd for a luti is hadd of zan and that is the view of Thawri and the scholars of Kufa. 11

Narrated Jabir:
That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “What I fear most from my Ummah is the behavior of the people of Lut.”
Grade : Da’if (Darussalam) 12

AbuDawud said: From here I remembered this tradition from Mu’ammil and Musa: Beware! No man should lie with another man, no woman should lie with another woman except with one’s child or father. He also mentioned a third which I have forgotten. This has been mentioned in the version of Musaddad, but I do not remember it as precisely as I like. The narrator, Musa, said: Hammad narrated this tradition from al-Jarir from AbuNadrah from at-Tufawi.
Grade : Da’if (Al-Albani) 13

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas:
If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death.
Abu Dawud said: The tradition of ‘Asim proved the tradition of ‘Amir b. Abi ‘Amr as weak.
Grade: Sahih in Isnad but suspended 14

………..Malik related to me that he asked Ibn Shihab about someone who committed sodomy. Ibn Shihab said, “He is to be stoned, whether or not he is muhsan.” 15

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said concerning those who do the action of the people of Lut:
“Stone the upper and the lower, stone them both.”
Grade : Hasan (Darussalam) 16
